Catalina PBY-5A 'MISS PICK UP" flying boat
The PBY-5A Catalina „Miss Pick Up”, current registration number G-PBYA, has a really interesting history in her already 76 years of career. She was built in 1943 by the Canadian Vickers at Cartierville, Quebec for order of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Canso A amphibian (Canadian equivalent to the US Navy PBY-5A) and received a constructor number CV-283 and then the RCAF serial number 11005.The aircraft entered into service on 27th October 1943, being assigned to the 9th Squadron of the RCAF (Bomber Reconnaissance unit), stationed at that time in Bella Bella, on the British Columbia coast. I believe that’s an American PBY-5A Catalina.
Yes it is it's role in combatting German U-boats in the Atlantic used by RAF and US navy in WW2 On my channel I have video of German U-boat 534. I was lucky to go on it back in 2002 in Liverpool before there cut it up hope you have a look called #daz boat U-boat 534.

The biggest miniature railway in the UK?? In terms of what ? Track Gauge? Line length? Area? If we are talking length then The Romney Hythe and Dymchurch railway dwarves it massively by over 12 miles then there is Ffestiniog, the video title seems a bit vague,the railway is a fair size I suppose but certainly not the biggest in the Uk if we are talking Geographical length. 🙂🙂

We're talking biggest in terms of scale (ish) size of our locomotives.... Not the longest, nor the widest track gauge. That's what we mean. And the Ffestiniog Railway is narrow gauge, not Miniature. 😉

This must have been filmed some time ago. I don’t the foulness bike ride back in 2002 and was able to see a lot of this but cameras were not what they are now. That said you wasn’t allowed to film anything in the MOD zone.

Yes it is meany of locos have gone i was there 3 weeks ago and did not see any there mite have been moved around the the site it is so big that you car't see around the site as It is M O D site you mite see some of it but don't see the rest. If you are planing to go to it you need to get the Number 1 Arriva bus from southend -on -sea to the last bus stop at black gate road and you will see the M.O.D .all you have to do is walk up side of the fence best day is a Thursday around form 10am to 1pm it's a hit and miss if you see any action with trains going in or out this was the best day I found hope this help's
